CRA takes 10th in Corporate Cup debut

CRA didn’t score any points for style and grace, but “The Associates” competed hard for a 10th place finish in Division I of the Kanawha Valley YMCA’s 2009 Corporate Cup.

“This year served as a great learning process for us,” team captain Allison McCarty said. “Everyone did a really good job and more importantly had a fantastic time. Now we know what to expect in terms of competition and are excited to challenge for the cup in 2010.”

After several years of not competing in Corporate Cup, The Associates’ lack of experience showed through the early events. Veteran team members had to shake the rust off, while the newer competitors learned sports on the fly but the team hit its stride though on the final day of competition at UC Stadium scoring 75 of its 91 team points to jump from 11th to 10th in the standings.

“We had a great conclusion to Corporate Cup,” McCarty said. “We scored points in 10 of the 17 track and field events and really came together as a team."

Few could doubt the fun had by the staff. CRA’s employees are so enthusiastic after Corporate Cup that plans are underway to field softball and volleyball teams in preparation for next year’s competition.
